I have got stuck on lesson 4, Matthews bit will only play for a few seconds. Has anybody else had this problem. The first 3 were fine and 5 works okay.
Also any advise, I have got as far as lesson 4 on the story and now I am finding words I have not heard before and they are not in the bit at the bottom of the page. Am I supposed to look each word up in a Spanish dictionary, I am seriously wondering if this beginners course is too advanced for me!!!!!!!!!! or am I missing something.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks Kate

Hi, Sorry, can't pronounce your display name  Wink

Tricky one, as the start of the beginner’s course is very basic - it is for complete beginners in Spanish.  Half way through though, Matthew starts explaining more complicated grammar concepts, such as the preterite and imperfect tenses.  The story conversations are challenging from the very start, as it's not feasible to have a normal conversation without using a variety of tenses, however we provide a list of word translations on every page to help beginners understand the conversation, even if they will need to look up a few words themselves in a dictionary, (don't want to make it too easy).

We are not sure exactly when our intermediate course will be ready. We are going to work on it full time in the New Year, but like the beginners course, there is a huge amount of content to put in. We are hoping that it will launch at the end of February, but can't guarantee it.

Although we are going to offer the intermediate to advanced as a separate course, there will be the opportunity of joining both courses for a full year at a reduced price - and we are going to offer a lifetime membership package, as we intend to continually add new content and ongoing support to our members.

Those who have joined the beginner’s course for 6 months can then take the intermediate to advanced course at a favourable rate, so if you are eager to start, I would suggest you join now and when our next course is available pay the discounted difference and have access to both.

Whatever you choose, we will make sure that you won't lose out financially by joining now rather than joining when both courses are available.

I heard about this website from a friend. I've had a look around and it looks fantastic. I have done a bit of Spanish in the past, and I am keen to improve, so I'm wondering whether I should join up for the beginners course, or wait for the intermediate. I am currently studying at university (not Spanish) and so I don't have time for formal lessons.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I announced our website in my community forums and another today - think it's called a soft launch, as that is as far as I've got so far  Grin

All the podcasts for the video lessons are completed and these are free for people to listen to, whether they have joined as a member or not.  Of course they are far better when linked to the video lesson pages, where the transcript of the podcast can be found, but for people who have a little Spanish, they are useful on their own as a comprehension tool.

Our member's area has a lot more to offer just for our subscribed members, so it won't do any harm to give our podcasts away for free.

I am going to add a podcast with all the useful phrases put together in one pod and add a webpage with the English transcript for this special podcast in our members area - this should be useful for those that need to learn certain phrases quickly to get them through a particular situation - when you want to get your hair done for example  Smiley  I will do the same for the list of words, so you can hear how they are pronounced, and read the translation on the page - plus I will be adding them to the member's exercises, so they can download and practise them in the free flipcard programme to increase their Spanish vocabulary.

If you have any other suggestions that you think would be good for me to add to help you learn Spanish, just say so here.....

Hi, is that you Patty?  Can you edit your profile and put in your name so we can recognise you please.  Just go to profile at the top - then click on the edit profile settings in your control panel on the left and fill in what you want.

Re. your question on the exercises. I set this so that the exercises open up another tab in firefox & Internet explorer - does this not happen for you?  If it does, then you just need to close that tab by clicking the cross and you will still have the grammar lesson open.

Let me know, as you know, everything is still being developed, so there will be lots of tweaks and changes that need to be done before everything looks and works right.

Thanks for your feedback, its very much appreciated.
